Man who threatened Cork garda remanded in custody

Lukasz Wrobel of Cork Simon Community pleaded guilty to charges of engaging in threatening behaviour and being so intoxicated that he was a source of danger to himself or others at the time.

A 32-year-old man gritted his teeth at a member of An Garda Síochána and told him, “I will come for you.”

Lukasz Wrobel of Cork Simon Community pleaded guilty to charges of engaging in threatening behaviour and being so intoxicated that he was a source of danger to himself or others at the time.

Sergeant John Kelleher said the public order incident occurred on November 25, 2024, at Cornmarket Street. Garda Shane Lucey was on beat patrol and encountered the accused shouting and roaring and causing a disturbance.

“While speaking with him there was a strong smell of cannabis and alcohol. He became extremely abusive and aggressive.

“Mr Wrobel was gritting his teeth and shouting, ‘Give me back my weed you stupid c***’. And he shouted, 'I will come for you.’

“He did not calm down and desist and he began shouting at members of the public who were walking by, ‘What are ye looking at ye stupid fucking pricks’.”

In an earlier incident on August 1, 2024, Garda Shane Hayes found a knife in the defendant’s trousers pocket and a small amount of cannabis for his own use.

Judge Mary Dorgan said she would remand the accused in custody until February 6 for a probation report.
