Judge Mary Dorgan remanded Jamie Russell in custody until January 9 to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A Cork man accused of discharging a gunshot at a house in Cork last August was remanded in custody for the Christmas holiday period.

Judge Mary Dorgan remanded Jamie Russell in custody — with his consent — until January 9 to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 23-year-old will be pleading guilty to all charges, defence solicitor Eddie Burke repeated today at Cork District Court.

Mr Russell of Harbour View Road in Knocknaheeny, Cork city, is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, dangerous driving causing injury, and driving without insurance or a drivers licence.

He also faces charges of theft and unauthorised taking of a vehicle, hit and run, and criminal damage.

All of the alleged offences occurred on August 23 in a house in Laurel Ridge, Shanakiel, Cork.

Evidence of arrest, charge, and caution was given by Detective Garda Mick Dolan at a special sitting of Cork District Court at the end of August. The defendant made no reply when the charges were put to him under caution.

Mr Russell appeared by video link from prison.
