Mexican businessman who pleaded guilty to defrauding 18 students is jailed

A Mexican businessman who pleaded guilty to defrauding 18 international students with their college fees worth €30,000 has been jailed for nine months.

Raul Rodriguez Ramirez, aged 36, now living in Dublin, pleaded guilty to the offences last year.

At his sentence hearing at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on Thursday, Judge Orla Crowe imposed an 18-month sentence with the final nine suspended.
