Ambulance service apologises to family over diabetic student's death
The National Ambulance Service has apologised before the High Court to the family of a deceased young diabetic man over delay in responding to an emergency call after he became seriously unwell.
An ambulance was called to the house in Limerick city where Darren Gaughan, who had just started a degree course in Limerick IT, was staying with friends. It arrived 31 minutes after it was called on October 28, 2010.
