3D-printed gun and suspected cannabis seized during Mayo Garda operation

A quantity of suspected cannabis, prescription tablets and a 3D-printed firearm has been seized by gardaí in Co Mayo.

As part of ongoing operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Ballinrobe area, Gardaí searched a location in the area on Wednesday.

A 3D-printed firearm, suspected cannabis and prescription tablets were seized in the operation by the Mayo Drugs Unit, assisted by the Armed Support Unit and the Garda Dog Unit.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said no arrests have been made at this time.

Seized items sent for examination The suspected cannabis and prescription medication will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for examination.

The firearm will be subject to further ballistic testing and forensic analysis.

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021.
