Gardaí in Wexford have launched an investigation after six males were found in a distressed state in a shipping container at Rosslare Europort this morning.
At the time of the distress call on Thursday morning, the relevant ship was sailing to Rosslare.
Gardaí and ambulance services arrived a short time later.
Five adults and one juvenile were in the trailer of a lorry that had docked at the port around 5am.
All six were conveyed to Wexford General Hospital.
Ger Carthy, a local councillor and operation resource manager with the National Ambulance Service in Wexford, said that two ambulances and three response teams were sent to Rosslare Europort.
The group was reportedly in a distressed state.
Mr Carthy said:
The investigation by Wexford Gardaí will be assisted by the Garda National Immigration Bureau.
Gardaí did not comment on the nationality or ethnicity of the six individuals.
Three of the men remain in the hospital undergoing treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, while the juvenile is receiving "appropriate supports."
Two of the men were refused permission to land.
