Motorcyclist, 40s, dies after crash in Co Carlow

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Co Carlow on Sunday morning. 

The collision, involving a car and a motorcycle, occurred at around 9.30am on the R448 at Ballyknockan, Leighlinbridge.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was brought by air ambulance to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The road where the crash happened was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since reopened.

Investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling on the R448 at Ballyknockan, Leighlinbridge between 8.45am and 9.45am this morning to come forward. 

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam or mobile phone recordings, are asked to make this footage available.
