Two men killed and woman seriously injured in separate crashes in Carlow and Donegal

Two people have died and another has been seriously injured following separate crashes in Carlow and Donegal on Sunday.
The crash in Carlow, which involved a car and a motorcycle, happened on R448 at Ballyknockan, Leighlinbridge at around 9.30am this morning.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was brought by air ambulance to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The road where the collision happened was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since reopened.
On Saturday afternoon, a man in his 20s died following a crash involving a car and 4x4 vehicle, which happened on the R232 at Fincashel, Pettigo at approximately 2:45pm.
The driver of the car, a male in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was later taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Letterkenny. A passenger in the car, a woman in her 20s, was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle involved, a man in his 60s, was also brought to hospital for assessment only.
The road where the accident took place is closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local traffic diversions have been put in place.
Gardaí are have issued appeals for witnesses to both collisions.
