Gardaí renew appeal as assault victim remains critical in Co Laois

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for witnesses as a man remains in critical condition after an alleged assault in Co Laois earlier this month.
A man aged in his 60s was seriously assaulted on Main Street, Portarlington, on Sunday, June 7, at approximately 1.15am.
He was conveyed to Beaumont Hospital for treatment, where his condition remains critical.
A man in his 40s was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in Co Laois.
He has since appeared before Portlaoise District Court.
Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information relating to the incident. They are also seeking road users or members of the public who may have video footage, including dash-cam recordings, from the Main Street area of Portarlington between 12.45am and 1.30am on June 7.
