Driver dies in single-car crash in Co Carlow

The incident happened at around 6.20am on the R702 between Borris and Goresbridge at Ballytiglea. 

A man in his 20s has died following a single-car crash in Co Carlow on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at around 6.20am on the R702 between Borris and Goresbridge at Ballytiglea. 

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Gardaí say no other passengers were in the car and no other injuries were reported. 

The road is closed for gardaí to carry out a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place. 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R702 between Borris and Goresbridge between 5.30am and 6.30am, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
