Two gardaí injured following assault in Co Donegal

Two Gardaí were taken to hospital following an assault in Co Donegal.

They had received a call to attend a premises on Neil T. Blaney Road, Letterkenny, on Thursday, April 23 at approximately 3pm.

Two Gardaí attended the scene and were assaulted by a man, aged in his 30s.

Gardaí arrested the man and a woman, aged in her 30s, who were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in the Donegal Division.

"The two male Gardaí received treatment in hospital for injuries sustained during the incident and have since been discharged," said a Garda spokesperson.

An Garda Síochána is providing peer support to the injured Gardaí.

The man remains in custody at this time.

The woman has since been released and charged in connection with this investigation.

She is due to appear before Letterkenny District Court on Monday, May 11.

Investigations are ongoing.
