Teenager dead after being hit by car in Co Cork

Forensic collision investigators attended the scene of the incident on Friday night, and an examination took place.

A teenager has died after being struck by a car in Little Island, Cork, on Friday evening.

Gardaí attended the scene of the fatal road traffic incident at 11.50pm on Friday night after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car. 

Following the incident, the teenager was taken to Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí confirmed on Sunday that he has since passed away. He was aged in his late teens.

They are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 11pm and midnight on Friday, April 17, are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
