Up to 18,000 homes were still out of power overnight and early this morning in the wake of Storm Dave but crews slashed this number by around 5,000 by 8am.
One of the biggest faults was in Nenagh in Tipperary, affecting 1,275 customers.
Other faults being dealt with this morning included a number in Kerry, affecting around 150 people, and two in Thurles, affecting another 150 or so people.
There were also minor faults around Co Galway, Co Dublin, Co Kildare, and Co Sligo.
However, ESB Networks crews expect to restore power to most areas by the end of the day.
The storm has also had an impact on planned flights to and from Dublin Airport.
Airport operator Daa said that there could be more flight changes today, adding to the 17 cancellations and 13 diversions.
Those planning to travel are being urged to check the status of their flights with the airline they are due to travel with.
The same advice was given to those flying out of Cork Airport.
Officials there warned yesterday that passengers seeking information should refer to airline websites/mobile apps for updates.
"Passengers travelling to and from Cork Airport should be mindful of difficult travel conditions," the airport said.
There has also been some localised flooding and road closures, mostly in Co Donegal.
Met Éireann predicted this morning’s showers will ease by the afternoon, but that it will be moderately windy and 7-10C with temperatures dropping to 0C tonight.
Tomorrow will, the forecaster said, be “rather windy and largely dry” with plenty of clouds.
The only weather warnings in place for the next few days are the various daily small craft warnings for all coastal areas around Ireland, which warn that winds could reach up to Force 6.
That effectively means there will be strong breezes which create large waves, and breeze speeds of up to 27 knots, which would amount to around 50km/h on land.
