Pedestrian, 80s, suffers serious injuries following Longford crash 

Gardai are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision in Kilmeaden.

A man aged in his 80s had been seriously injured following a crash in Co Longford.

The crash, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, occurred at approximately 5.15pm on Main Street, Ballymahon.

The pedestrian was removed from the scene to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, for treatment of injuries that are believed to be serious.

The driver of the car, an adult male, aged in his late teens, was uninjured.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will conduct a technical examination of the scene on Tuesday morning. 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area between 5pm and 5.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
