HSA investigating death from collapsing wall in West Cork

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has launched an investigation after a man died when a wall collapsed on him near Bandon, West Cork, on Thursday afternoon.
A second man was also injured in the incident which occurred in Kilmore at about 4pm. It is understood the men were building a wall when it fell on top of them.
The emergency services and gardaí responded to an emergency call. A 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man is being treated for serious injuries at Cork University Hospital (CUH).
A spokesman for the HSA confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched.
“The HSA is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation. As such, no further information is available at this time," the spokesman said.
An autopsy will be carried out at CUH. The local coroner has been notified, and an inquest will be held in due course.
The name of the deceased man is being withheld pending the notification of family members.
