Revealed: Lotto bosses confirm online ticket that won €17m jackpot was bought in Mayo
Lotto bosses confirmed on Thursday that the winning ticket was purchased by an online player.
The National Lottery has confirmed that the winning ticket for Wednesday's €17m jackpot was purchased by an online player in Co Mayo.
The winning ticket holder takes home the third-highest Lotto jackpot of all time. The winning numbers were 2, 6, 20, 22, 26, 39, and the bonus was 5.
Lotto bosses said a notification and an email has been sent to the online player and they are being advised to make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie.
"We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that the third largest Lotto jackpot ever, an eye-watering €17,008,295, has been won by an online player in Mayo," said Lotto spokesperson Darragh O’Dwyer.
"While the county might still be waiting for Sam to come home it has returned two of the three largest Lotto jackpot wins since 1988. This marks the 7th Lotto jackpot win of 2025, following a roll that began after a €4,038,682 win in Tramore, Co. Waterford back in April. And with this win, we now celebrate our 17th National Lottery millionaire of the year."
Since the Lotto game launched in 1988, only two jackpots of more than €17m have been won. Last night’s jackpot winner is now Ireland's third-largest jackpot winner in the history of the game, winning €17,008,295 in total.
The biggest Lotto jackpot ever won in Ireland was €19m, with the ticket being sold in Mayo in 2022. In 2008, a shop in Carlow sold a ticket that won €18.9m.
This is the seventh major Lotto win of the year, with previous jackpots won in Kerry, Dublin, Kilkenny, Waterford, Limerick and Louth.
Meanwhile, a punter who won €1m on July 5 has claimed their prize. The winning ticket for the Lotto Plus Raffle special event was purchased at Ely’s Centra in Clerihan, Co. Tipperary.
"I saw the news online that the winning ticket was bought where I got mine! I scanned it and panic set in — I didn’t know what to do with myself. A family member kept telling me to 'stay calm'… although it didn’t really help," the winner said as he picked up his prize.
