Man, 30s, dies in single-vehicle crash in Co Offaly

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man aged in his 30s, was fatally injured in the incident.

A man in his 30s has died in a single-vehicle crash in Co Offaly.

Gardaí and emergency services personnel attended the scene of the crash, which happened at Ballina Cross in Annaharvey, Tullamore, shortly before midnight on Monday.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man aged in his 30s, was fatally injured in the incident.

No other injuries were reported.

The body of the man was later removed to the Mortuary in the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, where an autopsy will take place in due course.

The R420 between Geashill and Cloncollig Roundabout has been closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Any road users with camera footage who were travelling in the area between around 11.40pm and midnight have been asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
