The woman was removed from the scene in a serious condition to Wexford General Hospital, where she later passed away.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, received a medical assessment at the scene.

The road in Enniscorthy was closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has now reopened.

It has been a tragic weekend on Irish roads as two other people were killed on Saturday.

Elsewhere, in Co Clare, a woman aged in her 70s died in a collision involving a bike and a tractor. The incident occurred at Toonagh, Tulla at around 12.45pm.
