Man dies following collision involving quad bike and motorcycle in Co Westmeath
The road is currently closed and will remain closed overnight, and a technical examination is due to be carried out by Garda Forencis Collision Investigators tomorrow afternoon.
A man, aged in his 20s, has died following a collision involving a quad bike and a motorcycle in Co Westmeath.
The crash occurred at Ballynascarry, Finea around 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon.
The driver of the quad was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has since been removed to the mortuary in Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, where a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
The passenger of the quad bike, a man also aged in his 20s, was removed from the scene to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the motorcycle, another man in his 20s, has been removed from the scene and taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, and remains in critical condition.
No other injuries have been reported.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in Ballynascarry, Finea between 3:00pm and 4:00pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
