Body of man recovered from water in Galway has now been identified
A CCTV image of the man has been provided by gardaí.
The body of a man that was recovered from the water at Claddagh Quay in Galway earlier this month, has now been identified.
Gardaí have thanked the public for their assistance.
Gardaí have issued an appeal to help identify the body of a man that was recovered from the water at Claddagh Quay in Galway earlier this month.
The body of the man, estimated to be in his 60s, was recovered from the water on Sunday, November 17.
The man was 5ft7in in height and was of a medium build. He weighed between 78kg and 80kg.
He had blue eyes "and a full head of red/grey hair", gardaí said. He also had a grey beard, with a slightly red moustache and black-rimmed glasses.
It is also believed he had an Irish accent.
Gardaí said the man had been seen wearing a grey tweed suit jacket and trousers. He also wore a blue/white striped shirt with a flowery print along the seams beside the buttons and inside the collar.
He was also wearing size 10 black-laced dress shoes from Asos.
Galway Garda Station superintendent Paudie O’Shea said: "Extensive inquiries have been carried out but there has been no positive identification of the deceased to date.
"I am appealing to owners of guest houses, landlords, hotels, hostels, B&Bs and Airbnbs to check if anybody left their premises and may have left property behind," he added.
