Man, 70s, killed in single-vehicle crash in Kilkenny

A man in his 70s has died in a single-vehicle crash in Co Kilkenny.
The incident happened on the R448 at Smithstown in Mullinavat at approximately 9.30am on Monday.
The driver of the car involved, a man aged in his 70s, was fatally injured in the crash.
The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements are now being made for an autopsy.
The road where the accident took place was closed for a time to facilitate an examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since been re-opened.
Gardaà have issued an appeal for witnesses.
Any road users with camera footage who were travelling in the area at the time have been asked to make this footage available.

The man is the 136th person to be killed on Irish roads so far this year.Â
On Friday night, two teenagers died and two other people were injured in Co Mayo.
James Daniels, 13, and Harry Fagan, 19, suffered fatal injuries in a collision involving a tractor and a car which occurred on the N83 at Levallyroe shortly after 8.00pm.
