'Irish cancer patients are being left behind' as we lag behind in terms of clinical trials

Preliminary results from a scoping analysis for the Irish Cancer Society show Ireland only carried out one third of the trials Denmark did.

Denmark carried out three times more clinical trials than Ireland between 2018 and 2023 with less than 3% of Irish cancer patients getting on trials, the Irish Cancer Society has said.

At least €20m extra is now needed for the National Cancer Strategy with patients waiting for trials, for testing and left without support after recovering from the devastating disease.
