Man arrested over hijacking of car with baby in back seat

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the hijacking of a vehicle in Dublin which had a baby girl in the back seat. 

The five-month-old baby and the vehicle were recovered at 4pm on Monday approximately two hours after they were taken from a location in Mountjoy Square.

The man, who is in his 40s, was arrested on Tuesday evening for an offence contrary to the Criminal Law (Jurisdiction) Act, 1976, the Unlawful Seizure of Vehicles. 

He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a garda station in North Dublin.

Investigations are ongoing.
