Man suspected of being in receipt of proceeds of crime loses appeal against €330,000 tax bill

The tax assessment was issued as part of a legal prosecution taken against the appellant in the High Court under proceeds of crime legislation.

A man suspected of being in receipt of the proceeds of crime has been left with a tax bill of over €330,000 after the Tax Appeals Commission rejected his appeal against an assessment by the Criminal Assets Bureau.

The unidentified male had been issued with an assessment for unpaid income tax to the sum of €332,958 relating to the period from 2012 to 2021.
