Ireland's clash with England could have had an earlier kick off to prevent English fans from "getting stoked up" with alcohol, a former assistant garda commissioner has said.

The game, the first of the Nations League campaign and the first for new manager Heimir Hallgrimsson, kicks off in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday at 5pm.
