Gardaí make fresh appeal for information on Raonaid Murray murder

Raonaid Murray was last seen alive on the evening of September 3 when she made her way home from Dun Laoghaire town centre, having left a pub to go and change before heading to a local nightclub.
Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal for information about the murder of 17-year-old Raonaid Murray in 1999.
Wednesday marks 25 years since the killing of the teenager in Dublin.
She was last seen alive on the evening of September 3 when she made her way home from Dun Laoghaire town centre, having left a pub to go and change before heading to a local nightclub.
Her body was found at Silchester Crescent, Glenageary at 12.33am on September 4, less than 500 yards from her home.
In over 4,500 witness statements to-date, there is still no motive identified for her murder.
A garda appeal was issued about the murder, saying that the solving of the case is of "the utmost priority."
It reads: "If anyone has any information which could assist in identifying a motive for the murder of Raonaid and / or if any person has any doubts about the truth of an alibi already provided, we would appeal for your immediate assistance."
Detective Superintendent Brian O’Keeffe said: "An Garda Síochána and Raonaid’s family would urge anyone with any information to please come forward. By not coming forward with that information you may be unknowingly shielding a killer.”
The appeal continued: "With the passage of time some person may now be in a position to provide information to investigating Gardaí that they could not provide at the time, or maybe some person who did provide information at the time may be now in a position to provide further information."
