A European rocket using tech systems created by an Irish space engineering company has launched into space.

The Ariane 6, which ArianeGroup built on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) will use two state-of-the-art technology systems built by Dublin-based company Réaltra.

The company designed the Video Telemetry System and the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) telemetry system.

The video system will provide live HD video telemetry images during all phases of the Ariane 6's mission, from six cameras onboard the rocket.

Ariane 6 launched from the Spaceport in French Guiana at 8pm on Tuesday.

Follow the launch which will be streamed live on YouTube.
