Woman, 80s, dies after being struck by van in Carlow

A technical examination of the scene at Presentation Place has been conducted and garda enquiries are ongoing.
A woman in her 80s has died after she was struck by a van in a private carpark in Carlow.
Gardaí are investigating the incident, which occurred in an enclosed private carpark in Presentation Place on College Street in Carlow town at approximately 4.30pm on Thursday.
After the incident, the woman was taken to St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny with serious injuries. She has since been pronounced deceased. Gardaí said an autopsy will now take place in due course.
The driver of the van was uninjured.

On Friday morning, gardaí issued an appeal for witnesses.
Any pedestrians who were travelling in the Presentation Place area between 4.15pm and 4.45pm on Thursday have been asked to get in touch with investigating gardaí.
Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in this area at these times have also been asked to come forward.
