Man, 20s, dead and two injured after Louth collision

A man in his 20s has died and two other people were injured after a two-car collision in Louth on Monday afternoon.

Just after midday, gardaí were called to the scene on the R169 in Collon.

The driver of one of the cars, the man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the second car, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for further assessment.

The road at the scene is currently closed for examination by garda forensic collision investigators, and diversions are in place. 

The local Coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged shortly.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are also requesting those with camera footage (including dashcam) from the area at the time to make it available to them.
