Heavy snow across Europe has seen multiple flights cancelled at Dublin Airport.

Munich Airport has cancelled all flights for the day after more than 30cm of snow fell on Saturday - with flights not set to resume until 5am on Sunday at the earliest.

This has resulted in two outbound flights and three inbound flights from Munich to Dublin Airport being cancelled.

One flight to Amsterdam was also cancelled, with a second set to depart this evening being delayed.

There are also delays to flights arriving from other European cities due to inclement weather - including Milan, Warsaw, Madrid and Porto.

Temperatures are set to drop as low as -11c in some parts of Scotland, with the UK Met Office issuing snow and ice warnings.

Ireland is under a low-temperature yellow warning until 11am on Monday morning, with Met Éireann saying the weekend will see "very cold day and night time temperatures with frost and ice persisting in places."

Possible impacts include:

  • Slippery conditions underfoot
  • Hazardous travelling conditions
  • Animal welfare issues

Saturday night will be very cold with "widespread frost and icy stretches and with the fog becoming more widespread, dense in parts, with some freezing fog too," Met Éireann said.

"Showers will become isolated for most early tonight, however, outbreaks of rain will move into parts of Munster and south Leinster again later, with a little sleet possible. Lowest temperatures of -3 to +1C."

It will be similar on Sunday, with highs of just 1 to 5C on Sunday afternoon, but Sunday night will see lows of -3 and freezing fog.
