After several months of extraordinary political drama within the DUP, veteran MP Jeffrey Donaldson has been deemed elected as leader in the absence of any challengers.

Mr Donaldson secured the leadership on his second attempt just weeks after he was narrowly pipped to the post by Edwin Poots.
