Covid-19 has 'dramatically' impacted provision of sugeries for obesity

According to their figures, 23% of adults in Ireland live with obesity and a further 37% are considered overweight.

MORE than €1.3 million was spent last year providing surgery to treat morbidly obese patients, according to new figures from the HSE.

A total of 154 patients received surgery, a fall on the previous year when there were 169 procedures at a cost of €1.48 million.
