Woman dies after being rushed to hospital following Clare river rescue

A major search was launched after the alarm was raised at around 5.15pm when Gardaí and the Irish Coast Guard received a report of a person in the River Fergus in the Cloughleigh area of Ennis.

Update 9.35pm: The woman who was rescued from a river in Clare has since passed away.

Gardaí have confirmed they are treating the death as a ‘personal tragedy.'
