A troubled 17-year-old Dublin boy accused of reaching speeds of 240kph after stealing his mother’s car and leading gardai on a high-speed pursuit has apologised and offered to plead guilty.

Today, Judge Brendan Toale deferred ruling on whether the case should remain in the Dublin Children’s Court or get transferred to the Circuit Court which has tougher sentencing powers.
