Contract awarded for work on M20 Cork to Limerick motorway

An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe have marked the first full year of Project Ireland 2040 by announcing a step forward for the M20 Cork to Limerick motorway.

Plans for a motorway linking Cork and Limerick took a step closer today with the signing of a contract for the route’s design stage.

The project - the first under the government’s €116bn Ireland 2040 infrastructural plan - has yet to go to tender for construction.
