Father who slapped daughter, 2, at Cork supermarket is fined €700

A father who slapped his two-year-old daughter in a Cork supermarket - causing such concern that two witnesses reported him to gardaí - was convicted and fined a total of €700 today.

The accused was never in trouble in his life and his wife described him as “a devoted husband and father to his child".
