High Court approves €20m payment from insurance compensation fund for Setanta claims

Payments of more than €20m have been approved by the High Court out of the Insurance Compensation Fund to meet a 35% shortfall in awards concerning motorists insured by the collapsed Maltese-based insurer, Setanta Insurance.

Payments of more than €20m have been approved by the High Court out of the Insurance Compensation Fund to meet a 35% shortfall in awards concerning motorists insured by the collapsed Maltese-based insurer, Setanta Insurance.

The payment orders were sought by the State Claims Agency and were granted today by the president of the High Court, Mr Justice Peter Kelly.
