Gardaí arrest five in Drogheda in connection with alleged kidnapping

A teenager and four men in their 20s and forties are being questioned tonight after gardaí discovered a man with stab wounds at a house in Drogheda, Co. Louth.
The injured man who is believed to have been the victim of an earlier kidnap attack, was brought to a hospital where his wounds have been described as non-life-threatening.
Gardaí entered the house at the Moneymore Estate at around 9pm last night, after an alert was raised on Sunday evening.
The arrests were made a short time later.
All five are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Garda stations in Drogheda and Dundalk.
It comes as Gardai investigate a number of incidents in the Drogheda area in the past few days, which local reports are connecting to an ongoing feud between rival gangs.
They include an alleged abduction, a stabbing and two petrol bomb attacks.
Chief Superintendent of the Louth Division Christy Mangan has appealed to anyone with information to contact them.
