Innocent man pardoned nearly 140 years after he was hanged for murder
An innocent man hanged for murder almost 140 years ago has been granted a pardon by the President.
The posthumous pardon issued to Myles Joyce by Michael D Higgins is the first granted by an Irish president in a case predating the foundation of the state, when Ireland was still part of the United Kingdom.
