A 59-year-old woman has died following a collision in Co Louth.

A 59-year-old woman has died following a collision in Co Louth.

The crash, involving a car and a small van, happened at the junction of King William's Glen shortly after 8am this morning.

The victim, who was driving the car, was initially removed from the scene but subsequently died from her injuries in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Two others, who were in the van, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The road has been closed for a forensic examination and is expected to reopen around 4pm.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them in Drogheda on 041-987 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
