Revenue officers seized 600,000 cigarettes with a retail value of almost €304,000 at Dublin Port today.

The haul represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of €261,000.

The 'L & M' cigarettes originated in Poland, and were described as “cleaning products” when they were shipped into Dublin Port via Rotterdam.

Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
