HSE urges more to get flu jab as they see rise in numbers vaccinated

Almost 25,000 more people got the flu jab this year compared to last year, according to the HSE.

Since September 1, more than 418,000 people aged 65 and over who hold a medical or GP visit card have been vaccinated.

This compares with 394,000 for the same period in 2015.

The HSE is urging everyone to get the vaccine - in particular those over 65 years, pregnant women, healthcare workers and anyone over six months of age with a long term illness.

The vaccine is available for free on the Medical and GP visit cards.
