Garda sergeants and inspectors to commence pay vote

Garda sergeants and inspectors will begin voting today on the Labour Court proposals that averted their strike action earlier this month.

More than 2,000 mid-ranking officers can vote in the ballot.

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) is recommending acceptance of the deal.

A result is expected by early December.

The AGSI was instrumental in negotiating a new pay deal for officers. It is considering becoming a fully fledged union once the current pay issue is resolved.
