Lansdowne pay deal 'in urgent need of correction', says union boss Paddy Kavanagh

The leader of trade union the TEEU has said developments such as recent pay concessions to Gardaí have left the Landsdowne Road pay deal "in considerable doubt".

General Secretary Paddy Kavanagh told the union's biennial conference in Portlaoise that the agreement was "in urgent need of correction".

He called for clear a timetable for unwinding the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (FEMPI) Act 2015, that brought in pay cuts in the public sector.

The union represents about 40,000 people in the electrical, engineering and other trades, many of them in the public sector.
