Dept of Justice could be set to fund majority of garda pay deal

The Department of Justice could be set to fund the majority of pay increases for Gardaí.

It is after the Labour court recommended a new package for the force which is believed to cost at least €40 last week.

The proposals have been put forward in a bid to prevent a Garda strike within the framework of the lansdowne road agreement.

Several public sector unions have called for their pay claims to be addressed in the wake of the deal.
