The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is investigating reports that Irish people have been injured in a bus crash in Spain.

Update 11.20am: It has been reported that two Irish tourists were among 24 people injured in a bus crash in Barcelona, local government officials said.

Three of the 24 were seriously injured, while six suffered less serious injuries and 15 were treated for minor injuries, according to the region's ministry of health.

The bus was transporting tourists from the resort of Lloret de Mar.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is investigating reports that Irish people have been injured in a bus crash in Spain.

It is understood 24 people were injured when the vehicle crashed en route to Barcelona's airport in the early hours of this morning.

It is reported that tourists from a number of countries were on board and that three have been seriously injured.

The Department has said as of yet it has not received any requests for consular assistance - but stands ready to provide support if required.
