More than 58,000 Leaving Cert students are to receive their results today
It is D-Day for more than 58,000 Leaving Cert students who will get their results later.
Their points will be available online from midday or they can collect them in person this morning.
It is a nervous morning for tens of thousands of students as well their families.
In just a few short hours the Leaving Cert results will be handed to students in schools across the country.
Education Minister Richard Bruton has said it is an important day for students - and congratulated them on their results.
The results are largely in line with previous years according to the state exams commission.
Students who do not get the results they want this morning are being reminded that there is plenty of options available for them to pursue their career or interest of choice.
The National Parents Council is providing a hotline staffed with guidance counsellors for those who need it on 1800 265 165.
Thousands of students will celebrate the results this evening.
The advice is to have fun, but to be careful and to never drink and drive.
The Leaving Cert results will be available in schools around the country this morning - or online from midday.
A taxi driver in Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, is offering free lifts for Leaving Cert students out celebrating night.
Joe Freeley who runs the Joe Maxi Taxi service is taking voluntary contributions for Pieta House instead.
Joe says it is his third year offering up his services: “I pick them up and I don't charge a fare.
“The last three years that I have been doing this, there has been a lot more in the collection bucket than I would have in my pocket if I was charging a fare.
“So the students are absolutely amazing, there is more to life than points.”
