An Post to increase the price of stamps

An Post has announced plans to increase postage rates from next month.

The price of a standard domestic stamp will rise from 70 cent to 72 cent.

For international letters, the standard rate is increasing by 5 cent - from 1-euro-5-cent to 1-euro-and-10-cent.

An Post says the new domestic postage rate remains 'well below' the average EU rate of 93 cent.

The postal service says discounts will continue to apply to businesses and bulk-mail services.
