Zika virus must be reported to the health authorities in Ireland

The Zika virus has been added to a list of diseases that must be reported to the health authorities here.

Health Minister Simon Harris has signed the regulation making the Virus a "notifiable disease" in Ireland.

The measure's designed to help identify possible outbreaks of the disease.

However, the department of health says Ireland is a low-risk country, for the Zika virus.
