Tyrrelstown residents to address the Dáil over eviction notices

Residents from Tyrrelstown will address the Dáil today on their efforts to remain on as tenants after being served with eviction notices.

Up to a hundred families face losing their homes in a west Dublin housing estate - after a deal done by a Goldman Sachs vulture fund with indebted developers.

The Housing and Homelessness Committee will hear of their efforts to try and stay in their homes.

The meeting comes after the residents won a case taken to the PRTB, which ruled an attempt to end the tenancies was delayed - and landlords must start the process again.

Dublin West Sinn Fein Councillor, Paul Donnelly is asking for government intervention: “It is about the committee coming together, it is about producing a real substantial report that will then have the backing and the funding of the Government and the Opposition benches.

“We need, not just for the Tyrrelstown residents, but also for every single person who is experiencing homelessness, living in B&B’s, living in hotels, we need a solution for them.”
