A major recruitment drive for new nurses takes place today in a bid to tackle the current hospital overcrowding crisis.

The fair at the RDS will see more than fifty-five Irish, British, Australian and Singaporean exhibitors competing to hire Irish healthcare staff.

Tallaght Hospital, St Vincent's, Blackrock Clinic, Bon Secours and many other Dublin healthcare providers will be in attendance.

The event comes after the HSE introduced a requirement for one staff member to leave before a new one could be recruited last December.

In recent weeks, hospitals have further tightened these rules to “three out, one in” in response to increasing financial pressures.
